Rosewood Grinder, Carved Bowl – 40mm
This grinder is made from Anjan wood, also known as Indian ironwood (botanical name Hardwickia binata), a hardwood species native to India. Anjan wood ranges from dark reddish-brown to almost black and is known for its high density: the wood is highly wear-resistant and doesn't crumble easily, which makes it suitable for an object that gets twisted open and closed on a daily basis. A cannabis leaf is carved into the lid by hand by a craftsman. Because every piece of wood has its own grain and colour variation, no two grinders are exactly alike: the photo is indicative, but the exact shade of the piece you receive may differ slightly.
Use
The grinder consists of two halves that twist together. Place a small amount of dried herb in the lower half, between the sharp teeth, and screw the top half on firmly. Twist back and forth a few times with light pressure: the teeth cut the herb into an even texture, which helps papers burn more evenly when rolling a joint or packing a pipe. Unscrew the two halves afterwards and tap gently on a flat surface to release the ground herb from the carved bowl.
Care
Clean the grinder dry. Use a small brush, a toothpick or an old toothbrush to work loose plant residue and resin from between the teeth. Avoid water, and especially avoid soaking it: wood expands when wet and can crack or warp, unlike a metal grinder. To keep the wood in good condition, treat it occasionally with a light coat of neutral vegetable oil to prevent it from drying out or developing hairline cracks.
