Corn Cob Pipe - 9 cm
The corn cob pipe is one of the best-known pipe shapes in the world, with a history dating back to 1869, when Dutch immigrant and woodworker Henry Tibbe first turned corn cob pipes in Washington, Missouri. What began as a hand-carved farmer’s pipe grew into an icon: the porous shell of the cob absorbs moisture and gives a cool, mild smoke, which made the pipe a favourite of, among others, author Mark Twain and cartoon characters such as Popeye. This 9 cm mini model is a compact version, turned from a real corn cob and fitted with a stem for easy use.
Use and Maintenance
Because every cob is a natural product, the exact colour and grain pattern vary from piece to piece, which is part of the character of a corn cob pipe. Let the pipe cool down fully after use before storing it, and clean out the bowl now and then with a pipe cleaner. Due to the porous material, a corn cob pipe is less suited to intensive daily use than a wooden or glass pipe, but with normal care it still lasts a long time.
