Hempwick lighter alternative for the Vaporgenie
The Vaporgenie, also carried in the Dutch-smart range, is a pocket vaporizer that works through convection: a flame on top of the device heats the air that flows through a flame filter to the herb, without the herb ever touching fire directly. A regular lighter works for this, but gives a bright, uneven flame that is hard to control. Hemp wick solves that: it is hemp twine coated in beeswax that, once lit, burns slowly and evenly like a candlewick.
Because the flame of hemp wick is smaller and calmer than that of a lighter, you can dose the heat above the Vaporgenie more precisely by simply holding the wick further from, or closer to, the opening. That makes it easier to vaporise the herb evenly instead of burning it. For the same reason, hemp wick is also widely used with regular pipes and bongs.
Use and storage
Light the end of the wick with a match or lighter and tilt it upward to let the flame die down, or downward to let it flare up again. Beeswax may drip while it burns, so hold the wick at an angle over the device, not over your hand. Store the hemp wick dry and away from heat; use a small length at a time and trim it off after use.
