Banisteriopsis caapi Resin 15:1

Banisteriopsis caapi is a woody vine from the Malpighiaceae family that occurs naturally in the Amazon basin of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil. The plant is known worldwide as the base ingredient of ayahuasca, the traditional plant brew that indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin have used for centuries in ritual and ceremonial contexts. Locally, more than forty varieties of the vine are distinguished; two well known ones are Ourinhos, which literally means "little gold," and Trueno.

This resin is a 15:1 extract: fifteen parts of dried plant material are reduced to one part resin, which means the naturally occurring beta-carboline alkaloids, including harmine, harmaline, and tetrahydroharmine, are present in a more concentrated form than in the raw leaf or stem. These compounds are described in the scientific literature as reversible MAO-A inhibitors.

These herbs are intended as ethnobotanical herbs. It is not our objective to offer these herbs for human consumption.

Use

We sell this resin as an ethnobotanical and educational product, for enthusiasts of unusual plants and for anyone interested in the history and botany of the Amazon basin. The literature describes caapi as part of traditional plant mixtures, but we make no claims whatsoever about effects, dosage, or suitability for consumption. Use of this product is at the buyer's own responsibility and intended solely as a botanical curiosity or for educational research.

Storage

Store the resin in a cool, dry, and dark place, preferably in an airtight jar, to prevent quality loss. This keeps the product suitable as botanical study material for a long time.

Alongside this resin, Dutch-Smart also carries dried Banisteriopsis caapi leaf and other ayahuasca-related herbs such as Bobinsana and Chacruna.
