Khat Seeds (Catha Edulis) 10 seeds
The Khat (Catha Edulis) plant is native to the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. In these regions, Khat has been chewed for centuries to boost energy. The Catha edulis plant takes 7 to 8 years to reach its full height and requires little care.
Effects
Users often compare the effects of the Khat plant to those of speed; the adverse effects are also similar. Warning: Khat can cause manic and hyperactive behavior!
Khat has a stimulating effect when chewed—similar to the leaves of the coca plant. A “chewing session” usually lasts 3–4 hours, with effects being felt about an hour after chewing. The effects are similar to those of other stimulants. Chewing khat is an important social ritual among Somalis, Yemenis, and Ethiopians. It helps maintain a sense of connection to the community and home among people who have migrated to other parts of the world. This is why the use of khat has also become increasingly popular in the Netherlands.
Risks
Although khat or qat is a plant with a relatively low risk, it is associated with an increased risk of a variety of medical complications, including dental problems, heart problems, liver disease, sexual problems, constipation, sleep problems, and reduced appetite.
The effects of qat can last from 90 minutes to 3 hours. Users may feel depressed and irritable and may have difficulty eating and sleeping once the effects have worn off.
