Kodan Tincture Forte Skin Disinfectant Spray
Kodan Tincture Forte is made by the German hygiene brand Schülke and is used in medical settings as a skin disinfectant before surgical procedures, injections, punctures and blood draws. The colourless version contains active substances including 2-propanol, 1-propanol and biphenyl-2-ol, combined with a hydrogen peroxide solution. The mix works fast and, unlike the coloured version, leaves no colour on the skin.
At Dutch-Smart, Kodan is mainly sold to mushroom growers. When inoculating agar, grain spawn or substrate with spores, a clean working environment matters for reducing the risk of contamination from mould or bacteria. Disinfecting hands and work surfaces with an alcohol-based spray like Kodan fits a careful, hygienic way of working, just as it does in a medical setting.
Usage
Spray the liquid onto the skin or surface to be disinfected and let it sit briefly to dry before continuing. Use the product in a well-ventilated space, away from open flames, since the liquid is alcohol-based and therefore flammable. If it accidentally gets into your eyes, rinse immediately for several minutes with plenty of water, keeping the eyelid open. Due to its high alcohol content, the product is not suitable for use on the skin of premature babies and newborns.
Storage
Store the bottle upright, away from open flames and heat sources, in a dry spot at room temperature. Close the spray bottle properly after use to limit evaporation of the alcohol.
