Clipper Micro with metal cover
Clipper is the brand of Flamagas, a Spanish company from Barcelona founded in 1959. Its recognisable round shape was designed in the early 1970s by industrial designer Enric Sardà, and was one of the first refillable plastic lighters on the market at the time. Flamagas now reportedly produces around 450 million Clippers a year, making it the world's second-largest lighter manufacturer after Bic.
This Micro version is smaller than the regular Clipper Classic and here gets a metal cover around the plastic body, making the lighter sturdier against drops and knocks. Underneath the cover sits the same familiar mechanism: a serrated flint wheel that strikes sparks and doubles as a tamper for packing tobacco into a rolling paper.
Use and maintenance
Refill the lighter through the filling valve at the bottom with ordinary butane gas, preferably in a well-ventilated space and away from open flame. When the flint runs out, slide off the metal cap on top and fit a new flint into the holder. Keep the lighter away from heat and direct sunlight, and out of reach of children.
