White Water Lily, TPA alkaloid extract of Nymphaea alba
Nymphaea alba, the white water lily, is a perennial aquatic plant from the water lily family (Nymphaeaceae), native to ponds, ditches and slow-moving water across much of Europe, North Africa and West Asia. Its flowers and rhizome have been used in European folk medicine for centuries, among other things as a calming remedy and, according to older herbal texts, as a mild aphrodisiac. Note: the well-known stories about a psychoactive "lotus flower" in ancient Egypt concern the blue lotus (Nymphaea caerulea), a different species; that history is not documented for the white water lily, although the white lotus did have a symbolic role in Egypt as an image of rebirth.
The plant naturally contains the alkaloids nupharine and nymphaeine, already described in nineteenth-century sources. Sources disagree on the precise safety profile: some describe these alkaloids as potentially toxic if plant material is ingested, others focus mainly on the calming traditional use. Scientific research into human dosage and effects is largely lacking.
This extract is made using the TPA method (Total Purified Alkaloids): the alkaloids are isolated from the plant through several extraction and purification steps and then dissolved in an ethanol and water base. The result is a clear liquid extract without plant residue, wax or chlorophyll.
Dosage
We offer this extract strictly as an ethnobotanical and educational herbal product, not for human consumption. Given the unclear safety data on nupharine and nymphaeine, we do not provide dosage advice.
Use

Storage
Store the extract cool, dark and upright with the cap closed, out of reach of children. Close the cap tightly after use to prevent the ethanol from evaporating.
