Wind Meters & Rangefinders
Wind and distance are the two biggest variables in precision rifle at longer ranges. Measuring makes the difference between a hit and a miss. At Hop.nl you will find wind meters, velocity meters and accessories from WeatherFlow, Athlon Optics and Garmin.
Measuring wind
At 100 metres you barely notice wind. At 600 metres, 5 km/h crosswind can already shift your shot a full MOA. At 1000 metres it gets worse. Reading wind is a skill you develop through experience, but a good wind meter gives you the data you need to back up your corrections.
The WeatherFlow Tempest is a weather station that measures wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and density altitude. Everything your ballistic calculator needs to build an accurate firing solution. Wireless, compact, and pairs with your phone. The tripod mount lets you set it up on a standard photo tripod at your shooting position.
Just want to quickly see what the wind is doing without electronics? The Scent A Way wind indicator is a powder you squeeze into the air. You instantly see which direction the wind is going and how strong. Simple, effective, costs almost nothing.
Measuring bullet velocity
The Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro is a Doppler radar chronograph. No screens to shoot through, just a radar that measures bullet velocity at distance. Set it up next to your rifle, fire, and you have your V0. Indispensable when you want to know your ES and SD during load development, or when you want to verify that your ammunition is still delivering the velocity you expect.
Accessories for Garmin Xero C1
Using a Garmin Xero C1 chronograph? We carry a protective case from XTREME Ballistics and an Arca + Picatinny rail that also fits the Athlon Rangecraft. The rail makes it easy to mount your chronograph on your rifle or on a tripod.
Where to start
If you are just getting into precision rifle at longer distances, a wind meter is the first thing you buy. The WeatherFlow Tempest gives you all the atmospheric data you need. A chronograph is the logical next step once you start taking load development seriously. Get in touch if you are not sure what you need first for your situation.
